Linux

With the looming Windows 11 upgrade deadline, I was stoked to try Linux this past weekend. I had loaded up Mint on an old laptop and things were looking good, so I let it rip on my main PC. And so it began.

And as much as I wish this was a nice victory story about leaving Microsoft's crap updates and forced AI in the past...it's not. I do a fair bit of gaming and even with ProtonDB to check what "worked" - it wasn't good. I don't want to get into the nitty gritty of it, but there were just too many variables and games didn't work. And that's with spending hours tinkering and what not.

There's something to be said when something just works. I don't mind doing some fixing and learning, but as soon as it's the bulk of my time I'm out. So props to anyone on Linux and has made it work for them (seriously) - I was optimistic that it was "there", but I can't really say that's the case for me.

I had fun trying something new and learning stuff, it wasn't all bad. But installing Windows 11 and having my games work out of the box yesterday was a relief.

Btw, if you're on Windows 11, I found this cool tool to remove some of the bloat. O&O Shutup 10++ has worked well.
